Mental health doesn’t stop at the mind — it impacts families, futures, and entire communities. At CAFCO, we understand that addressing mental health isn’t just a checkbox. It’s a revolution of empathy.
And we’re leading that revolution in both African and immigrant communities where stigma too often silences the pain.
The Problem We Can’t Ignore
In many African and immigrant households, mental health struggles are swept under the rug. Depression is misunderstood. Anxiety is labeled “weakness.” And trauma is passed down, unspoken.
CAFCO is changing that — by showing up in community centers, schools, and homes with real tools, real conversations, and real healing.
Our Approach: Psychosocial Support with Heart
Our outreach model is simple:
- Normalize mental health care
- Train community advocates
- Offer workshops and open dialogue
Through art therapy, culturally relevant counseling, and youth-led discussions, we help break the chains of shame — and replace them with language, hope, and support.
Real Talk, Real Transformation
After attending one of CAFCO’s psychosocial workshops, 17-year-old Joseph from Côte d’Ivoire said:
“I didn’t know it was okay to talk about how I feel. Now I help my friends talk too.”
That’s how change happens: person by person. Conversation by conversation.
Where We’re Headed
We’re working to launch a mobile mental health unit that will bring on-the-go counseling and workshops to underserved areas in West Africa by next year.
